Stanley Park

Okayz.. Inspired by Sze to update my blog. I'm in a lazy mode.. I am just eating, sleeping and sleeping for the last few days. Eileen and KX had to knock on my door on Sunday afternoon to drag my ass out to town.

Nothing much lately, just busy trying to look up on cheap deals. Hotwire, expedia, kayak, priceline... etc....

Done with 3/5 midterms. Got back 2 already. Not too bad... a few marks above the safetly zone of the dreaded C grade. Still got 2 more mid-terms to go.. and I am not excatly rushing to study for it.

Rey got some lobang for a 4day 3nights Rockies tour for $250 cad. Which is really cheap! The catch?... its a korean tour agency and the tour guide speaks Korean! haha.. But being the cheapo us.. i think we will just go ahead.

Have been hitting the gyms lately. You know.. I am the kind that, when I start, I continue going regularly for quite some time... so yea... need to get back to shape, threadmill, pumping some iron... IPPT will hopefully be a breeze... Tats about it.

Love you darling! Missing you!

Snow cap mountain (red reflection from the sun)

Can you see the bridge on the background?

Ducks and more Ducks... walking around as if I werent there.
I almost caught a picture perfect moment of the swans doing their famous love shape thingy
Silly us doing the 1-2-3-4-5-6-7......
UGLiest beach on earth...

Love Parcel!!!!

I am so late for class, but I just have to blog this. Received a mail parcel today! You know, when you are 9000 miles away from home, and 1 month without any Singapore flavour, a parcel from home is worth a million bucks.

Kanxing calls it the "love parcel"... hahaaa... it sure is! My gf tried to bluff me that she sent some food over, but she really need to learn how to lie.. haha.. I knew it was something more special than that! =)

Ahhhh... I am so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love this present to bits! Love my present!
Gonna hug it to sleep. Oh its a scarf btw.. if the pictures below ain't clear enough.

-----------------WARNING: Mushy Pictures Ahead---------------------

There is a Virus somewhere around me..

I swear there is a virus somewhere in my computer. But its affecting only my memory cards. The pictures I have taken for the last couple of days just refuse to open up. I have to resort to reformatting my SD card. Who the hell reformat SD cards. This is insane!

Anyway, I have a shortage of food now. AS IN REAL SHORTAGE. I have only 2 packets of instant mee, half a can of luncheon meat, half loaf of bread, some rice and alot of milo packets. I need to go supermarket to stock up soon. Ha.. but its funny how my version of food shortage pales in comparison to Eileen's. I told her my "lack-of-food" situation and she goes like "I only have maggie mee, some vegetables and I feel like I am already over-supplied" ... You see Eileen, I have a bigger stomach to cater to.

Anyway, talking to Alvin online about "tra...." I mean the weather in Warsaw. Haha... he seems to like it there eh buddy .. wink* Wink**... Anyway, I don't know if I talked about it before, but there is some file-sharing server here in BC and it is fabulous (and illegal) giving me average speed of 8-9mbps. I have ummm "received" (trying to avoid the world d/l) at least 80GB of movies/ TV series.. and I can't stop watching them. I am averaging 1 Movie and 2 TV series a day.

Stupid Kaixing and Rey intro me to this silly Planet Earth Bandwagon... its a BBC documetry about ummm Planet Earth lar! Its pretty amazing how the managed to video some of the scenes which is btw in High-Def!

Oh, and my exam time table is out too! I finished exam on the 24 APRIL!!!!!!!! meaning I can start planning my TRIP woooooooooooooooo! ANy inputs on where to go in AMERICA!

Ice-Hockey

Got free tickets to an ice-hockey game held yesterday, part of the business-school Buddy exchange program. It was quite an experience albeit initially. Watching a live game so close to the ring itself. Plucks were inches to flying out of the ring at times, but other than that, it was a pretty dull game.

Ice-Hockey is a really funny game though. Substitutions occur as the game is running. Players just jump in and out of the game. I am still wondering how they coordinate their timing. No hand-signals, no shout from the coach, just one split second, another player is on the field (ice ring). The game is really short too! With just 3 periods of 20 mins.

Anyway, got 2 mid-term tomorrow, and I am still struggling with the basics. Thats what happen when you start opening your books and read it 3 days before 2 papers. Well.. I AM ON EXCHANGE MA!

Taiwanese laughing at Singapore English?

What a joke. I can't believe what I am seeing/hearing. It is one thing to be amused by our country's culture and slang, but mocking our English is fucking low class. Bloody Taiwanese show.. I bet they can't even form a proper English sentence.

CHINESE NEW YEAR SONG... SO CUTEEEEE

Another Threat in UBC...

What I received yesterday..

Broadcast E-mail to All UBC Students, Faculty and Staff from President Stephen J. Toope:
For the second time in a week, our Vancouver campus community has received a threatening message.
In this second case, an unspecific threat has been made for Wednesday. The threat does not specify a time, a location within the UBC Point Grey campus or the method of doing harm.
We must take such threats seriously, and we are working closely with senior RCMP personnel to address this new threat.
What can we all do when faced with such a threat? We are taking the advice of the RCMP to treat the non-specific nature of the threat with a higher level of community vigilance but to otherwise continue our normal activities.
However, because of the specific mention of the Biosciences building in the threatening message received last week, and the traumatic experience of the occupants who endured a full lockdown of the building at that time, classes will be cancelled tomorrow (Wednesday) in the Biosciences Building.
For details, see the RCMP news release at: www.rcmp-bcmedia.ca
And please continue to look at www.ubc.ca for the latest information.

Trying to lead a Singapore-life

I'm trying very hard to revert back to my Singapore-lifestyle here. Either I can't live/eat/sleep/study like a vancouvian or I just have too much singapore blood running through my veins.

Lately, I splurged alot on food (Singapore-kind of food). I bought Lotus root, chilli padi, bee hoon, toufu, beanspourt, sweet chilli sauce, rice, oyster sauce, pork ribs...etc. These things don't come cheap here. For eg. a small packet of chilli padi cost $4sgd and the lotus root cost about $5sgd per root. But I guess I have enough of Potatoes, salads and donuts. I need real FOOD! authentic FOOD.

There is a Singapore style Prima-taste restaurant serving singapore food. This would have been my favourite hangout if not for its exorbitant prices. A bowl of laksa cost $13 cad (20sgd). =(

Nevertheless, I am not going to give up on making my singaporean dishes. Next up is white carrot soup.. bought white carrots today!!!!!!!!! yippie...

Oh yeah, apparently there was a bomb/shooting incident in school yesterday. Not sure what really happen but there were at least 3 helicopters hovering around school, Swat team and a swamp of news reporters. The Bio-chem building was cordoned off and students in since 12pm were only let out at 6pm. Mass emails were send around to students asking them to avoid the building and classes were cancelled. hmmmmmmmm.... lucky i aint there... i have classes there on tues and thurs... and the incident happen on WEDNESDAY... HENG ah..... still in 1 piece. =)
